PARKING IN GIETHOORN
All parking spaces in Giethoorn are divided into 3 zones: south-center-middle. Our village is known worldwide as the Dutch water village without roads and cars. In fact, cars cannot enter the old part of this authentic Dutch water village. But where do you park when you come to Giethoorn?
An important fact is that wherever you park or start your visit in Giethoorn, you are always within walking distance of a boat rental. During your trip with your boat, you can always sail through the center of Giethoorn.
It’s also often the case that you have the opportunity to eat or have a drink near the Giethoorn parking facilities.
Parking spaces Giethoorn
There are parking spaces available in multiple locations in the village. For example, there are 3 large parking spaces in the center. When entering Giethoorn from Meppel or Zwartsluis, you will encounter 7 parking spaces. And, when entering Giethoorn from Steenwijk or Blokzijl, you will first encounter 2 parking spaces. Good to know that most parking spaces in Giethoorn are free.
€95 fine for parking outside the designated spots.
Parking at one of the parking spaces is usually free. However, parking in Giethoorn outside the designated zones can cost you €95. This is strictly enforced. So, be warned.
Avoid searching for a parking space
If you book a boat, tour, package, activity, or something else through our website, you will receive an email after booking that specifies exactly where you should park your car. This prevents searching for a parking space and also searching for a boat or boarding spot.

This is the largest parking lot. If you search on ‘Google’ for (Giethoorn), you will end up here. In fact, this is also just the center parking lot.
