What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website can store on your computer, tablet or phone via your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage in the browser (localStorage), work in a similar way.
Cookies on Giethoorn.com
Giethoorn.com uses a cookie banner from BookingMonster. With it you choose which cookies you allow. The website itself only places the cookie that remembers your choice:
- bm_consent_g_7gwcp2pdbknr: remembers your cookie choice. Necessary. Retention period 182 days (about six months), valid for giethoorn.com.
At the moment no analytics, tracking or advertising services are switched on on the website itself. If we do so later, we will only use them if you give consent in the cookie banner, and we will list them on this page.
Categories in the cookie banner
In the cookie banner you choose from four categories:
- Necessary: needed to make the website and booking work, for example to remember your cookie choice and the contents of your booking. These are always on.
- Functional: extra features, such as a chat or remembering your preferences. Off until you switch them on.
- Statistics: measure how visitors use the website. Off until you switch them on.
- Marketing: tailor advertising to your interests and measure how well it works. Off until you switch them on.
You can accept all, reject all or choose per category.
External services on this website
The cookie banner is loaded from cmp.bookingmonster.nl (BookingMonster). In doing so, BookingMonster receives technical data from your browser, such as your IP address, so that the banner can be shown and your choice can be processed. Apart from that, this website does not load content from external services. The font is on our own server, so no connection is made to, for example, Google Fonts.
Cookies on our booking sites
On book.giethoorn.com and arrangementen.giethoorn.com the booking system uses necessary cookies to make booking work, for example to remember the language, the visitor and the contents of your booking. The retention period is one year at most.
Links to other websites
Giethoorn.com contains links to other websites, for example:
- our booking system book.giethoorn.com;
- the package overview arrangementen.giethoorn.com;
- websites of local businesses;
- affiliate links via Tradetracker (for example for accommodation);

Only when you click on such a link and visit the other website can that website place its own cookies. The cookie and privacy policy of that website applies to them. We have no influence on those cookies.
