Holiday homes with a sloop
Most holiday homes are for 4 or 6 people. They lie on the water, have a terrace on the bank and their own jetty where your electric sloop is waiting.
Holiday Park Giethoorn is a car-free holiday park on the Binnenpad, on the shore of the lake De Bovenwijde. You stay in a holiday home right on the water, and with most homes an electric sloop (electric boat) lies at your own jetty.
The park is in the middle of Giethoorn and is run by the Van Hoorn family and their team. It is a small-scale park where all homes lie directly on the water, with their own terrace on the bank. From your jetty you sail through the village, across De Bovenwijde or towards Weerribben-Wieden National Park.
At Holiday Park Giethoorn you can stay overnight in a holiday home, chalet or group accommodation on the water, usually with your own sloop, and eat, play and hire bikes at the park.
The park has the eatery Giethoorn Burgers & Grill with a covered terrace. It looks out over the fenced playground, and above the restaurant is an indoor play area. From the park you walk to the centre with its terraces, shops and a supermarket.
Holiday Park Giethoorn has accommodation for couples, families and groups. You stay for a weekend, a midweek or a whole week; other wishes are often possible by arrangement. All homes are smoke-free.
Most holiday homes are for 4 or 6 people. They lie on the water, have a terrace on the bank and their own jetty where your electric sloop is waiting.
These holiday homes have a fence along the water. The child-friendly homes also have a high chair and a changing unit.
Spacious accommodation for groups of up to 12 people, with a sloop in which the whole party can sail together.
If you do not want a boat, choose the Tiny House or the hotel chalet Lepelaar. A sloop does not come with these types.
This group accommodation consists of three linked hotel chalets and a separate shared living space. Each chalet is for 4 people and has two bedrooms, a private bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, a seating area, a fridge with freezer compartment and coffee facilities.
In the living space you eat and sit together: there is a living room with television, two dining tables and a fully equipped kitchen for 12 people. Through the French doors you step onto the covered terrace on the water. A sloop for 12 people comes with the accommodation.
If you are coming with small children, the types Ooievaar and Koekoek are handy: they have a fence along the water. The child-friendly homes for 4 or 6 people also have a high chair and a changing unit.
Your dog can come too. Dogs are welcome in some of the holiday homes; state when booking that you are bringing a dog, and you will see straight away which accommodation is suitable.
An electric sloop is included with most holiday homes and lies at your own jetty during your stay. You step from your holiday home straight into the boat and sail through the canals of Giethoorn, across De Bovenwijde or into the nature reserve. On arrival you receive a park magazine with boating routes of different lengths. Along the way you can moor at waterside terraces, and at the park restaurant you can order a picnic to take with you.
Before you go boating you must watch the instruction film that goes with your sloop number. The driver must be at least 18 years old, and you sail within the routes on the boating map. In bad weather boating may temporarily not be allowed.
The holiday homes lie directly on fishing water, so you can cast a rod from your own garden. With the sloop you can also sail to fishing spots in the nature reserve. For fishing you need a fishing licence, the VISpas, which you apply for via vispas.nl.
At the park is Eatery Giethoorn Burgers & Grill, with a view over the park and a covered patio. From the terrace you look out over the fenced playground. The eatery also organises boat tours of 1 and 2 hours through and around Giethoorn.
Barbecuing with a charcoal barbecue is not allowed at the park. You can, however, order a package for the gas barbecue or the gourmet set via the restaurant. You can also go to the restaurant for a bread roll service for the next morning.
Outside there is a fenced playground. Above the restaurant is a renovated indoor play loft with a ball pit, a slide, spinning and puzzle games and an interactive play wall. The park also has an entertainment programme for children, with crafts, games and sporty activities.
At reception you can hire geared bikes, electric bikes and children's bikes in 20 and 24 inch. Bike hire is for park guests only. You can book at reception or by phone.
From the park you can start a walk or bike ride through Weerribben-Wieden National Park, with its reed beds, marsh woodland and open water. At reception you will find cycle routes, and the park lies on the cycle junction route De Weerribben & De Wieden. A good starting point for routes is Visitor Centre De Wieden in Sint Jansklooster.
Most holiday homes come with an electric sloop that lies at your own jetty during your stay. A sloop is not included with the Tiny House and the Lepelaar type, among others. When you book, ask whether a sloop comes with your accommodation.
