Mini golf, the fun family game
In Giethoorn we have a mini golf course with 18 holes. The aim is to complete the course in as few strokes as possible. Every hole has different obstacles. Hit the ball through a loop, the maze or a hole-in-one in the net. The winner receives a certificate as proof. Great fun with the family, as an outing with friends or for a children’s party.
Boating in Giethoorn with children
Giethoorn and boating go together. For many visitors a trip on the water is the highlight of the day, children included.
In a whisper boat you sail calmly through Giethoorn. And the children? They will have a great time on the way. Make it extra fun with simple games, such as:
- Counting bridges
- Spotting ducklings in the canals
- Or a bet with dad: how often does he hit the bank with the boat?
Does the little one win? Then of course an ice cream afterwards is in order.
How long do you sail with children?
With young children, a trip of about two hours is usually enough. You then sail at a leisurely pace through the canals, through a stretch of countryside and across the lake.
With older children it is fun to sail a little longer. Choose a different route, bring swimming gear or find a nice spot along the way for a picnic. That way you make it a complete day out.
Do you have children without a swimming certificate? Then ask the boat hirer about a life jacket. In many cases they are available.

Hunting for crooks
Go on a crook hunt with your children! In this crook game you and your children set out to solve a burglary. A burglary has taken place at the town hall of Giethoorn. Walking through the village, you look for different locations with clues about the burglary. At each location you have to answer or solve a task, question, puzzle or riddle. If you do this well, you get information that lets you rule out suspected crooks. There are 12 suspects. It is up to you to point out the crook who committed the burglary.
Eating out with the children
Eating out with children can be a challenge. At Eetcafé Giethoorn the children have their own play loft, so you can enjoy your meal in peace.
When they walk in, the children will soon discover the play loft. They can run straight upstairs and let off steam in the ball pit. The little ones can slide and crawl through tunnels while the older children go down the big slides. There are also various board games, puzzles and craft materials available. The play loft is fully equipped to entertain children of all ages.
Meanwhile you can enjoy your meal in peace.
After the meal the children can burn off their last energy in the play loft while you chat quietly. And who knows, they may make some new friends while playing.
