Holiday home De Punterbouwer
A holiday home on the water with three bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and its own covered terrace with barbecue and lounge chairs. Dogs are welcome.
De Sloothaak is a small holiday park on the Binnenpad in the old centre of Giethoorn, just outside the bustle of the village canal. You stay overnight in a holiday home on the water or in your tent on the trekking field, and you hire electric sloops (electric boats) or join a private boat tour.
The Schoelink family runs De Sloothaak as a small-scale holiday park with a campsite. The park is in the middle of the old centre, but in a quiet spot on the water. The sloops and the private boat tours leave from reception on the Binnenpad, and from the holiday homes it is a short walk to the village canal, restaurants and terraces.
At De Sloothaak you can stay overnight in a holiday home on the water or camp with your tent, hire an electric sloop and take a private boat tour with a skipper through the village and the nature.
You book the Luxe Sloep and the Luxe Lounge Sloep online on the booking page. You book a holiday home, tent pitch, the Sloep Lounge XL or a private boat tour by phone.
De Punterbouwer and De Turfsteker lie side by side on the water and are furnished almost identically. Both houses were renovated in 2024. You book a holiday home by phone with De Sloothaak.

The house right next to De Punterbouwer, furnished almost identically: three bedrooms, a complete kitchen and a terrace on the water with canopy, barbecue and lounge chairs. Your dog is welcome here too.
Each house has three bedrooms, an open kitchen and a living room with French doors to the terrace. Every bedroom has a ceiling fan. Wifi, bed linen and towels are provided, and for small children there are a cot and a high chair.
If you are coming with a large family, several families or a group of friends, you rent De Punterbouwer and De Turfsteker together. You stay in one place, but each family has its own house. There is a play area for children at the park.
For a group you can hire the Sloep Lounge XL, or two luxury sloops.
The De Sloothaak sloops are fully electric and quiet. You do not need a boating licence. Before you set off you receive a personal explanation and a detailed boating map with route advice, including a route suitable for children. You set off from reception on the Binnenpad, a quiet landing spot just outside the village canal.
You hire a sloop for 1, 2, 3 or 4 hours, or for a full day. In an hour you sail through the old centre, and with more time you also reach the nature around the village.
A compact, comfortable sloop with a silent electric motor, cushions and seating for up to 6 people. On the booking page you book the Sloep Kragge Luxe (1 to 4 people) and the Sloep Giethoorn Luxe (1 to 6 people), both with steering wheel and cushions.
A Van Vossen Tender 500 with extra lounge comfort. With the adjustable backrest you make a lounge deck at the back. The sloop has padded cushions, extended benches, a fold-away table, a raised step-in, USB connections and two swim platforms with a swim ladder. On the booking page you book the Sloep Giethoorn Lounge (1 to 6 people).
The largest sloop at De Sloothaak is a Vossen Tender 590, almost 6 metres long and over 2 metres wide, with a 4 kW electric drive. There is room for up to 10 adults, handy for a family, a group of friends or a group that wants to sail together in one boat. This sloop is not on the booking page; you book it by phone.
Would you rather not steer yourself? Then book a private boat tour. You sail only with your own party, with a skipper from Giethoorn who tells you about the history of the village, daily life and places that most visitors do not see. Mees, who runs De Sloothaak with his family, sails too.
With the Luxe Lounge Sloep you sail with 2 to 6 people, with the Lounge XL with a maximum of 12 guests. Larger groups of up to about 30 people are divided over several sloops. You can order drinks before you set off. The skipper can often drop you at a restaurant afterwards.

Camping De Sloothaak is a quiet, green family campsite in the centre of Giethoorn. On the trekking field you pitch your tent right beside the water or close to it. The campsite can only be reached on foot, by bike, by boat or by canoe. You take your luggage from the car park with a hand cart from the campsite. You book a tent pitch by phone and pay on arrival.
The campsite has room for 36 static caravans or chalets on large grass fields. A plot is about 90 to 100 m² and has room for a static caravan of up to 10.5 metres long and 3.5 metres wide. A mooring for your boat within 50 metres is included. The campsite organises activities for children and adults several times a year. For more information, contact De Sloothaak.
Rob and Gerda started here in 1988 with Eetcafé De Sloothoake, together with Camping De Sloothaak. For years the restaurant and campsite formed one whole. They are now two independent businesses: the restaurant has been called Restaurant 141 since 2022 and is a minute's walk from the park, on the village canal. De Sloothaak itself grew into a holiday park with holiday homes, a campsite, sloop hire and private boat tours.
There are two holiday homes on the water, De Punterbouwer and De Turfsteker, each for up to 6 people. Together you can rent them as group accommodation for 12 people. There is also a small campsite with tent pitches on the trekking field and seasonal pitches for static caravans.
